Exclusive to corporate members, NYC Media Lab’s prototyping program connects companies to the cutting-edge research taking place across the City’s universities. NYC Media Lab helps its corporate members identify exploratory questions and experimental goals, and brokers connections to the talented engineers, designers, data scientists, entrepreneurs, and creative technologists across campuses to structure custom projects. In 2018, NYC Media Lab presents the A+E Networks Mobile Augmented Reality Prototyping Fellowship focused on 1968, the Year that Changed America. HISTORY, part of A+E Networks, seeks to support NYC-based graduate students in a cohort-based fellowship program. The focus for experimentation will be ARKit for Apple iPhones and ARCore for Android phones.

NYC Media Lab and Bloomberg led the Census 2020 Workshop at Bloomberg’s annual Data for Good Exchange to explore how can data scientists and journalists can help share the importance of the census.

BOOTCAMPS & INTRAPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMS
NYC Media Lab launched the XR Startup Bootcamp, an intensive, 12-week accelerator program with 10 early-stage startup teams focusing on XR and future interfaces.
Executives from Bertlesmann were invited to “upskill” and equip themselves with knowledge and practical takeaways about emerging media technology.
NYC Media Lab, Verizon and Yahoo Sports partnered on the Sports/Media/Tech Startup Bootcamp focusing on applications of 5G wireless technology for sports and e-sports.
The Startup Bootcamp asked entrepreneurs to consider how augmented reality could improve patient experience during the treatment of diseases, providing support for mental health initiatives and encouraging manufacturing and commerce through digital communities.
