Verizon 5G EdTech Challenge

The Verizon 5G EdTech Challenge is a nationwide open call to find the most innovative, cutting-edge educational technologies that will transform middle school education.

10 Challenge winners will each be awarded a $100K grant, and will partner with Verizon to develop and test their solutions in the 5G environment starting in spring 2019. Challenge winners will also have the opportunity to test their products in select 5G-enabled Verizon Innovative Learning middle schools throughout 2019.

We’re seeking bold, innovative, future-facing approaches to address three key challenge areas:

  • Student Readiness and Engagement

  • Teacher Training

  • Personalized Supports

We're asking you: How can we use cutting-edge technology to improve educational outcomes? How does the classroom of the future work? How can technology address critical resource gaps teachers and schools face everyday? How can low-latency and edge-computing technology transform teaching and learning in middle schools? We welcome your thoughts, ideas and proposals. The application is open to nonprofit organizations and university faculty and student teams. Please contact 5GEdTechChallenge@nycmedialab.org for more information.

Application Deadline: Friday, November 30, 2018
