TECH, MEDIA & DEMOCRACY: SPecial issues 

New York City’s universities partnered to support and defend journalism and independent news media — one of the most critical elements of our democracy — as they are increasingly under threat. The program brought together Cornell Tech, Columbia University, City University of New York, New York University, and The New School — in partnership with the NYC Media Lab — to attempt to address these challenges using design, engineering, and computational methods and techniques

WHITE PAPERS

NYC Media Lab produces white papers to unpack the themes and applications that are top of mind for consortium members. White papers include insights from media and technology executives and investors, as well as expert faculty members and practitioners from the CIty's universities. How is artificial intelligence is changing economics? How are future interfaces—like virtual, augmented, and mixed reality— shaping entertainment and advertising? What are the benefits of investing in machine-driven media? These topics and more are explored.

NYC Media Lab produces three conferences yearly: Machines + Media, focused on data science and automation in media; Exploring Future Reality, to consider immersive media and future interfaces; and an annual Summit, which brings together our entire community for two days of discussions, demos, and networking.
